Online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree

The online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program prepares registered nurses to become effective and ethical leaders, professionals, and health educators in an evolving health care industry.

Benedictine’s online MSN curriculum aligns with the graduate education standards specified by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing which emphasize organizational and systems leadership, informatics, health care technologies, advocacy, inter-professional collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and cultural awareness among other valued professional nursing qualities and skills.

The program can be completed in as few as 12 courses and approximately 2 years.

CCNE Accredited

The online MSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Accreditation means that you, employers, recruiters and other higher education institutions can be assured that the quality of the university and the education you receive has been rigorously evaluated and will adequately prepare you for the requirements of professional employment or ongoing studies.

Master of Science in Nursing - Nurse Educator (Online)

Learn to serve in teaching roles for patients and nurses in both clinical and academic settings such as universities, community colleges, and teaching hospitals. As the demand for nurses explodes, the need for nurse educators is expected to grow by 35% through 2022, and many facilities are already struggling to fill these vital positions. In conjunction with advanced nursing topics including the 3 P’s of nursing, health assessment, pathophysiology, and pharmacology, you’ll study instructional strategies, curriculum development, and evaluation methods. The program also prepares students academically to sit for the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) exam. Nurses who enjoy sharing their skills and knowledge with others will enjoy a rewarding career as a nurse educator.

Master of Science in Nursing - Nurse Executive Leader (Online)

Designed for nurses interested in administrative and executive roles, coursework in this concentration focuses on the planning and management of high-quality care initiatives and processes. Courses cover collaboration, communication, leadership, financial management, and critical thinking. This course of study prepares students academically for the Nurse Executive (NE-BC) exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Nursing professionals who wish to help other nurses grow within their careers will find great satisfaction in a nurse administrator career.

Dual MSN/MBA Option Available

The online Dual MSN/MBA program is designed for nurse professionals seeking a comprehensive understanding of advanced nursing practice and the critical thinking skills needed to solve problems, identify opportunities and make dependable decisions in health care settings based on an understanding of finance, economics, operations, marketing and management.

The program is completed in just 23 courses, as opposed to the 28 courses that would be required if you take each degree separately.

Privacy and Accreditation

The University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). The HLC is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. This federally recognized body provides assurance that Benedictine meets quality standards for educational performance.

The Master of Science in Nursing (both online and on-campus) is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), which “ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate and residency programs in nursing.” CCNE accreditation encourages nursing programs to continually engage in self-assessment as a method for growth and improvement in their educational practice and curricula.
