Graceland University--no relation to Elvis--began admitting students in 1895, and is sponsored by the Community of Christ, a Mormon ministry. It was formerly known as Graceland College, and became Graceland University in 2000. The nursing program was founded in 1969, the sixth academic program to be founded at GU.
Key Features
- Although the main campus of Graceland University is located in Lamoni, Iowa, the bachelor’s nursing program is based in Independence, Missouri.
- Master’s students can take courses from two tracks: family nurse practitioner or nurse educator. Within both specializations, students can take the accelerated track, full-time or part-time.
- As of June 2007, all of the programs within the nursing school are available online, in order to accommodate the busy schedules of students and faculty.
