Missouri State University, located in Springfield, Missouri, was founded in 1905 as the Fourth District Normal School. Today, the University is home to 19,400 students from across the US and 80 countries, and offers more than 150 undergraduate majors and 47 graduate programs taught by 700 full time faculty members. Missouri State University has the state’s largest internship program through which students gain real-world experience in a variety of settings. Students at Missouri State play on Division I athletics teams, and participate in over 250 student organizations.


Nursing Education at Missouri State University

Missouri State University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing. Students can pursue an associate degree, a BSN, and an RN to BSN program. The associate degree program is offered at the University’s West Plains campus. Graduate nursing students earn an MSN in either the Nurse Educator or the Family Nurse Practitioner concentration. Post-master’s certificate programs are also available in these concentrations. Qualified students can pursue the accelerated RN to MSN option, where they receive a BSN and an MSN in less time than it would take to complete the degrees separately. Clinical experience is gained in hospitals and community health care agencies in the area. Nursing program facilities at Missouri State University include a Health Assessment Laboratory and a student computer center.
