New Mexico State University was founded in 1888 as an agricultural college and preparatory school and offers undergraduate and graduate programs through its five campuses, a satellite center in Albuquerque, and cooperative extension offices located throughout New Mexico. With a total of 31,300 students, the University offers programs through its colleges of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences; Arts and Sciences; Business; Education; Engineering; Extended Learning; and Health and Social Services, as well as the Graduate School. Students are involved in 16 intercollegiate sports and a wide variety of student organizations.

Nursing Education at New Mexico State University

The School of Nursing at New Mexico State University offers BSN and MSN programs and serves an enrollment of over 400 students. The BSN program is available in three tracks: four-year pre-licensure, second-degree accelerated program, and RN to BSN. MSN students can choose from four specializations: Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, Public/Community Health Clinical Nurse Specialist, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Nursing Administration. Clinical experiences are gained through a range of acute care and community-based health care agencies. In addition to the BSN and MSN programs, New Mexico State University offers an online PhD program.
