The University of Illinois at Chicago traces its origins to four Chicago health colleges. It still has a strong health care focus today with undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing, dentistry and medicine, among others. Degrees in art, engineering, business, and liberal arts are also offered.

• In 1986, The College of Nursing was named as the first US World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborative Center for Nursing and Midwifery.
• The nursing college boasts three separate departments; Women and Children, Family Health Science, Behavioral Health Science, and Health Systems Science, which give students the opportunity to specialize even at the BSN level.
• The college of nursing has programs at four campuses around Illinois.

Accreditation

The University of Illinois at Chicago is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The College of Nursing Master’s and Baccalaureate programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
